Description

Main structural features

The sealing rings around the valve disc realize Bolt bonnet OS & Y lifting-round plug, it’s sealing. It has unique protection for swallow-tailed sinks and fixed sealing rings in a double direction.

Principle of opening and closing of the valve

When the valve is fully opened, the channel of the plug is in alignment with the channel of the valve body, which can ensure the ideal and lowest decrease in pressure, When the hand wheel is turned, the plug will rotate toward the closing direction, and at the same time draft the rotation of valve seat and close the valve. When the hand wheel is turned inversely, first of all, the plug will move upward, and the valve disc and valve seat will be separated; if the hand wheel is turned further on, til 90 degrees driven by the plug turns the valve disc, and finally the change of plug will be in alignment with the channel of the valve body so that the valve is be fully opened.

Orbit Plug Valve FAQs

1. What is an Orbit Plug Valve and what are its core advantages?
An Orbit Plug Valve is a specialized quarter-turn valve known for its unique lift-and-turn operating principle. This design ensures that the plug lifts off the seat before rotating, eliminating friction and wear between sealing surfaces. Its core advantages include superior sealing integrity, extended service life, and reliable performance in severe service conditions.
2. How does the lift-and-turn mechanism of an Orbit Plug Valve enhance its performance?
The lift-and-turn mechanism of an Orbit Plug Valve prevents rubbing between the plug and seat during operation. This non-friction design minimizes wear, reduces operating torque, and ensures a consistently tight shut-off over thousands of cycles, making it highly reliable for frequent on/off applications and abrasive media.
3. In what demanding applications are Orbit Plug Valves typically recommended?
Orbit Plug Valves are highly recommended for demanding applications involving abrasive slurries, high-temperature fluids, corrosive chemicals, and sticky media. Common industries include mining, oil & gas (especially in wellhead and pipeline applications), power generation, and chemical processing, where conventional valves often struggle.
4. What are the key benefits of using an Orbit Plug Valve for isolation services?
For isolation services, the Orbit Plug Valve offers exceptional benefits, including bubble-tight shut-off, minimal maintenance requirements due to its non-friction design, and a robust construction that withstands harsh operating environments. Its reliable sealing ensures process integrity and enhances safety.
5. What material options are available for Orbit Plug Valves to suit various media?
Orbit Plug Valves are available in a wide range of materials to accommodate diverse media. Common options include carbon steel, stainless steel (304, 316, duplex), and various high-alloy materials (e.g., Hastelloy, Monel) for highly corrosive or high-temperature applications. Material selection is customized based on process requirements.
6. What is the pressure range of your valves?
Our products cover pressure ratings from Class 150 to Class 2500 (PN1.0Mpa to 42.0Mpa).
